NOIDA: The one nautical mile airspace around the Twin Towers demolition site in Noida will be unavailable for flights for sometime on August 28, the Noida authority has said. One nautical mile is approximately equal to 1.8 kilometres.
The Union Civil Aviation Ministry has given its nod for this, with the Noida Authority on Sunday overseeing the demolition preparations for the nearly 100-metre-high twin towers. “In view of the dust generated after the demolition, on the recommendation of the Noida Authority, the Ministry of Aviation has given its consent for non-availability of one nautical mile airspace for the aircraft to take off at the time of demolition,” it said in a statement on Friday. .
Earlier, Noida Police on Thursday banned the use of drones in the city sky from August 26 to August 31, citing security reasons, in the wake of the demolition of illegal towers of Supertech. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (HQ) Ram Badan Singh, while passing the restraining order, exercised powers under section 144 of CrPC.
The police had also announced that drones would be allowed but only beyond the “exclusion zone” of about 500 meters and that too with their permission. No human, animal or vehicle will be allowed in the exclusion zone on August 28.
The Apex and Cayenne towers, nearly 100 meters taller than Delhi’s iconic Qutub Minar, are to be demolished on August 28 at 2.30 pm in pursuance of a Supreme Court order that found their construction within the Emerald Court complex in violation of norms. Over 5,000 residents living in Emerald Court and the adjoining ATS Village Society will be evacuated on August 28. They will vacate the premises by 7 am and permission will be given only after security clearance by the agencies concerned around 4 pm.
