Older Apple devices getting ‘critical’ iOS update: See full list here

According to Apple, a vulnerability in iOS 12 could lead to ‘processing maliciously crafted web content’ that could ’cause arbitrary code execution.’ This means that a bug in iOS 12 could allow a website to run an unknown malicious program on an affected Apple device. The support document shared by Apple states that the company is “aware of a report that this issue may be actively exploited.”

The latest update named iOS 12.5.6 brings build number 16H71 and addresses this issue with better bounds checking. Hence, it is advised for the affected users to update their devices.

How to Update Your iPhone and iPad?

If you own one of the above mentioned devices and want to update it to iOS 12.5.6, then follow these steps

– Go to the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.

– If the update is available on your device, you will select the Install and Update option. Tap on it.
